June 2008

The month of June will bring a
great deal of attention to commerce, communications, and travel. Prices
are high, yet Americans have a hard time staying home. The shorter
school breaks for summer condenses the time that families have to get
out and play together. With gas prices continuing to climb, the frugal
family will be seeking fun in the neighborhood. This is a good year for
local communities to bring people together. There has not been a better
time in recent history to know your neighbors.
June begins with Mercury in
retrograde motion until the 19th. Communication, short trips,
and issues of local commerce are topics of this period. There can be the
false hope that better times are near. Unfortunately, any shift in the
market place will only be temporary. Rehashing old news could bring
things we wish were not true out into full view. Concern arises over
covert government activities. Yet, will anyone do anything to change the
path that has now become a paved road?
There is continuing general
attention on and debate about the Presidential race. There could be
increased scrutiny on the current administration. The tension is growing
around the plan for military forces over the next three months. Sabers
are rattling. The people want PEACE, while the leaders want oil. Listen
to the young people, who call themselves the “Greenies.” The attention
of the up and coming leaders is on the future of communities, not world
domination. These young people are bringing out the hard
questions that mainstream media are avoiding in the debates, such as
health care, financial security, and ecological sustainability.
The full moon June 18
stimulates the carefree sense of last summer when we thought that we
“deserved” to travel, and play and over spend. Beware of the enticement
to be frivolous. The fun will be short lived. The extra debt could push
some over the edge. There is an edge of risk-taking that will stimulate
many people to go “out on a limb” through investments and extended debt.
Clear thinking is not the general call for this month. Instead, we
should review and rethink our plans for the rest of 2008. Observe and
wait is better advice than rushing into new business or new
investments.
We might see some temporary
reduction in gas prices through the early summer. It moves the economy
to see Americans move around and spend money. Yet, if you look ahead to
the expected shortages of the fall into winter, you might want to stay
home and save your money.
The summer solstice occurs on
the 20th. It could be interesting to pay attention this week.
The planetary weather looks to hold a bit of danger. Public health is a
prime target. Avoiding crowded public areas may reduce the threat of
air-borne infections. There is much danger of fire and high winds
through the month. Areas that are generally threatened should be
prepared for an active season.
There is a growing interest in
looking for alternate energy sources and better ways to use our
resources. If we consider how far we have come with technology since
mid-1960, we can be sure that we are at a turning point where new
concepts will turn the corner on energy problems that we are facing now.
Over the next 18 months, an astrological combination reflects the
changes of the 60’s. It will affect politics, economics, and
international relationships. A new era is upon us. We should throw off
fear and give attention to possibility. Our best opportunity to create
change in our local economy will come from the communities. June is a
good month to look at new strategies. |
