April, 2004

The themes of
Aries, such as new beginnings, pioneering adventures, setting off on a
quest, or taking bold action create a stimulating climate for April. We
will have two successive New Moons in Aries. The first, March 20, was
within hours of the Sun’s entrance into Aries causing the New Moon at 0
Aries. The second will be April 19, with the New Moon at 29 Aries. This
April New Moon is also an eclipse. (No, it will not be visible in
Hawaii.) It will occur at 3:21 am, Hawaii time. The hot spot in the
world for this eclipse will be South Africa. Eclipses reveal what is
normally invisible. Their potency is related to how much of the Sun is
covered and the length of the eclipse relates to the duration of its
influences. This event will give us only partial insight into important
matters involving leadership and responsibility.
There are some
dominant fixed stars that are being activated now, as well as linking to
some important larger cycles. Mars, the planet that rules Aries will be
conjunct the star Aldebaran at the Full Moon, April 5. This star is in
near the constellation of Orion (the hunter) and is associated with
unleashing terrific energies, natural disasters and major historical
events. April 19, the fixed star, Al Rischa (meaning “knot joining
cords”) is at the degree of the eclipse. It adds the potential for
bombings, explosions, melt downs and financial disasters. It gives the
character of a grimly determined single-minded leader acting as if he is
a law unto himself. Certainly, as a primary theme, the Aries warrior
energies are being strongly exhibited throughout the month. Applying
these current energies to the chart of the United States, we can expect
more attention on war and maneuvers for global control. There continues
to be a strong focus on maintaining existing battles. I’m sorry to say,
I don’t expect peace talks any time soon.
On the
individual level, this spring stimulates us to do some serious
reevaluations. When the world events shake with so much violence and
blocked communications at the international level, people start to be
concerned about stabilizing personal resources. Mercury, the planet of
mind, mental processes, communication and agreements, or disagreements,
will be retrograde for most of the month, from April 6 to 30. This is
the time to rethink, reconcile, and complete unfinished business. It is
NOT the time for new ventures or signing contracts that involve your
money. It is good for clearing out clutter, having Garage Sales, and
getting together with people you haven’t seen for a while. This period
will cause us to feel like forward motion in our lives is difficult. Be
patient, the movement ahead will be strong in May, especially since
Jupiter also turns direct on May 5. Don’t get too ahead of yourself
though, as Venus will retrograde May 17 until June 29. This will give us
a good time for redecorating, beautifying, and refining our
environments, homes and workplaces.
Any great
improvement in the financial and economic picture is not likely until
the fall. For the current, anything we can do to pull in loose ends and
be cautiously attentive to spending will support stability over the next
few months that are looking tenuous. There is actually a lot of growth
in motion in Puna. This is laying a more prosperous groundwork for our
area that will benefit general economic improvement over the next two
years. Opportunities for community bonding will foster new visions and
projects when we get out and socialize in coming weeks. Get involved and
share your ideas.
