August and September 2006
By Norma Jean Ream
The Full Moon
rising over Big Island on Wednesday, August 9, was linked with strong
outer planet aspects, which are now highly energized for moving our
lives along. The accumulation of planets in fire signs this month can
mean literal blazes, as well as a lot of inspiration, motivation, and
action. The theme of forward motion will carry through into September
with planets swiftly moving into Virgo, the sign of work, systematic
functions, and service oriented planning.
August is the
month to initiate activities that will have a long time influence. The
dynamic challenges over the first half of 2006 are ripening. Whatever
issues have been brewing in your lives are now being fulfilled and
realized in form and action. The remaining months of 2006 will put down
foundation stones for a new phase of life. This may seem to be a
generalized statement, yet each of us will recognize some specific
aspect of life that has been in process of restructure that will firm up
and a little more of the path will be revealed.
August 31
completes a phase of cycle that began in November 1989. The planets,
Saturn and Neptune have a thirty-five year cycle, and they are
completing half of it. This is like a full moon phase, which energizes
and brings things to fruition. In the case of these planets, Saturn
rules authority, governments, and walls and divisions. Neptune
represents ideals and it permeates and universalizes. When the two
joined together in 1989, the Soviet Union dissolved and the Berlin Wall
dissolved by the universalizing force of the ideal of freedom. Their
opposition now, with Saturn in Leo, the sign of dignity and royalty, and
Neptune in Aquarius, the sign of brotherhood, equality, and freedom, we
will witness a draining away of privilege and being exempt from the
rules. The desire for the ideals of freedom will unify people who are
being invaded by foreign powers.
Neptune also
rules oil. Excessive consumption and dependence on oil is a status of
the privileged life. This peak of the cycle shows us the destructive
potential of both war for oil and an over polluted environment. Neptune
can undermine the structures that many depend upon for survival. Saturn
is responsibility, and has the power to contain Neptune’s energy and
apply it to form and function. Only realistic responsible attention to
personal consumption and collective participation in national and
international agreements to protect the environment will protect our
future.
On the personal
level the Saturn-Neptune cycle illuminates where we must take conscious
responsibility and incorporate higher ideals in our sense of unity with
others, from the nearest to the farthest, most collective members. Make
the concept of transpersonal space be a sensitive awareness of human
connectivity. From this view, we can use imagination and visionary
ideals to help us make decisions. Making the most out of the simple life
is a positive side to this combination. The negative side is the sense
of sabotage and betrayal by those who are entrusted with authority and
power.
Jupiter, planet
of expansion, adds another dimension to the cycle just discussed as it
completes its third square to Saturn and Neptune. The drama of these
three began in December 2005. What we have seen is the expansion of
Presidential powers and the dilution of individual freedoms. These
things are happening right out in the open, while we sit amazed that it
can happen. In spite of grossly criminal government actions, tax cuts
for the wealthy, decreasing social services and education dollars, not
to mention the age of military induction raised to include the middle
aged, and gasoline goes skyrocketing over $4 a gallon, there are few to
no protestors! Is there something wrong with this picture? No, this is
the strange and foggy world of Neptune.
The eclipses of
September (Lunar on September 7, Solar on September 22) will stir up
rebellious energies that will reverberate next spring. Everything is
linked together and the energies of this fall link back to the potent
eclipse of Aug 11, 1999. They also connect forward to August eclipses in
2008. Consider eclipses portholes of change, a window with a glimpse of
what normally is hidden, like the stars in the daytime. These days are
stepping-stones on the path of destiny. Let us envision a free and
healthy future.
