August 2004
By Norma Jean Ream
The peak of summer is a very high-energy time. In any election year, we
have increased attention on politics and speculation on the coming
election. This year is likely to be one of the hottest contests we have
seen in modern times. Unlike past times, we have a greater risk of
widespread deception through subtle controls. One of these controls is
the fear factor inherent in our media. Media propaganda is something we
all seem to know about, yet we still accept this as the main source of
information, which most people seem to believe as true information.
Michael Moore is single-handedly shaking up the American consciousness
with his documentaries that pull back the curtain to show some of the
reality behind the scenes of American government and corporation
dominance of truth. That is going to make a difference in this next
election.
Mercury is the planet of mind, communication, reasoning, and delivery of
information. It symbolizes our individual reasoning power, as well as
our collective process of all types of data. Mercury represents the
media, as well as, the top government spokespersons. It will be
retrograde (backtracking) from August 9 to September 2. It will be in
its own sign of detail-oriented Virgo for most of that time, but backs
up into Leo on August 24. I expect that much of the stories, as they
have been told to us up until now, will be reinforced. However, the last
week of August could show us some of the flaws that high-ranking
officials have been trying to conceal. As we head into September, expect
some intense times, but do not expect that we are getting the truth. The
Full Moon on August 29 is a volatile time with extreme behaviors being
the theme. Try not to be caught up in this polarizing energy with loved
ones on the personal level. This is a time we need to strive to remember
love over the clouded view of the hysterical moment. Compassion and love
are necessary ingredients at this time.
Another approach to the energy of August is to give attention to
community improvements at the local level. The best place to start
having some control over our lives is to invest service and love into
our local experience. Often life on the Big Island can feel very
disconnected from what goes on in the “mad land”. Mid-month, around the
New Moon will be a great time for social gatherings and networking. If
you need to have a meeting of minds, make it fun to remind everyone of
the joy of working together for positive improvements. We will need this
reinforced camaraderie to take us through the next several months. Our
networks of helping hands and service should be strong and our sense of
belonging to a loving community will empower our growth and security in
maintaining our way of aloha island life. |
