Kepler College Graduation 2004

December 2004

By Norma Jean Ream

December is likely to feel dramatic with sways of energy ranging from intense passions to simmering silences. The Sagittarius New Moon on December 11 joins with Pluto, planet of power, control, and volatility. Venus and Mars are together in Scorpio, making interpersonal relationships a primary theme at all levels of life. There is an emphasis of the Fire and Water elements until the Sun enters Capricorn on December 21. Fire stimulates illuminates and inspires. Water blends and changes conditions in response to its environment. This month will hold a lot of energy and action and we must be aware in our responses so that we are not making the wrong choices. We can make this a joyous and loving time, or we can be overly reactive to insignificant things and spoil the opportunity for good times.

Communications are unsettled. Mercury, planet ruler of mental energies, communication, and short distance travel, moved into its apparent backward motion on November 30. It turns direct on December 20. This occurs three times a year due to Mercury’s closeness to the Sun. Mercury is relative to how we express, how we understand, and how we make decisions. Its retrograde time is a doubling back over territory just covered. This gives us a chance to think things through and make improvements before we move ahead to new projects or decisions. Allow plenty of time for holiday mailing this year. Mercury retrograde is classic for delays, mistakes, and doing things over again. On the high side, it is a perfect time to clean out clutter and reorganize, or finish old projects left undone.

This year, Mercury will be making three contacts to Pluto in its retrograde process. The combination of energies lends itself to research and digging up hidden information. We can also associate it with propaganda and persuasive speeches. In politics, it brings important debates to the forefront. The series of contacts are November 21, December 8, and January 4. There is likely to be some continuing debate on election processes and results. A final decision will close the discussion before the New Moon on January 10.

The Winter Solstice on December 21 in Pahoa suggests that the next quarter will show improvement economically. The surge in real estate prices should settle down and become more reasonable. However, the construction boom will continue. This includes the increase in commercial growth throughout the area. The Puna district is growing rapidly, which has its pros and cons. In a general way, this growth reflects increasing opportunity for prosperity. The emphasis now is more on the elements Earth and Air. Earth represents stability and tangible results. Air represents mental and communicative energies. This change of emphasis brings practical ideas and communications that turn into tangible results. We can find new resolutions to existing problems and implement a practical approach as we move into the New Year.

Take time to reflect on your year. Pat yourself on the back for all that you have accomplished in 2004. Appreciate the help you’ve received from others through their guidance and their helping hands. Let yourself dream of great things. Enjoy your life.
