December 2006
By Norma Jean Ream
After a long
year of power struggles, resistance to changes, and denial over what is
really eroding the structure of our lives, we witness the benefic
Jupiter hosting a large party for the month of December. Jupiter, planet
of magnanimous actions, generous sharing, and philosophical ideals has
moved into its own sign of Sagittarius. This symbolizes a more
optimistic view of life, a renewed philosophy of creating one’s own
reality through intention and visualization. With the personal planets
following closely with the Sun through this sign, there is greater
potential to make decisions with purpose and promote gains in our
personal lives.
The important
horoscope of this season is the Winter Solstice of December 21. This
event of the Sun’s turning from the shortest day toward the longest
marks the return of light in the world. From this chart we observe the
meaningful events of the coming year. The orientation of goals is
represented in the rising sign. Using the place of our nation’s capital,
Washington, DC, the Capricorn ingress chart has early Leo rising. This
is the sign of Royalty and leadership. The majority of planets are in
the winter signs bringing focus to practicality in the areas of
children, labor groups and military, public enemies, and international
loans and securities. Only Saturn, the planet of responsibility is
present near the rising, emphasizing the assumption of limitations and
financial burdens. There is an emphasis on addressing the issues that
stimulate the growth of resources, supporting health and well-being of
our youth, and improving the employment opportunities for women.
When we combine
the Solstice chart with the USA horoscope, the emphasis is highlighted
on the military aggressive actions with selfish motives. Propaganda will
focus on the influence of messages about acting out our role in the
world as savior and rescuer. The patriotic spirit will be driven by
practical support, nurturing the people and rebuilding homes for people
in need of shelter. While a strong effort is made to make improvements
for Americans, similar ideals will be applied to efforts that extend US
participation in Iraq.
The first half
of 2007 will support growth, spending and expansion. There is an
expectation through the winter that there is economic improvement for
the country in general. Yet, the spring will show that it is still not
safe to extend beyond comfortable boundaries of personal income and
expenses. A more practical approach to financial security is common
sense when the government is still sending troops in all directions.
Venus, planet of money and values will retrograde in July, bringing a
downturn in economic markets. Personal extravagances will be necessarily
minimized. Travel deals will abound, but will you feel safe to travel
and spend?
The Autumnal
Equinox (September 23) holds a strong emphasis of air and fire signs.
Air signs mean communication, sharing ideas and decision making. Fire
signs are the drive of life and enthusiasm. The combination is strongly
aggressive and active. Jupiter will be crossing the Ascendant of the USA
horoscope giving rise to a broadening role of the US government in
affairs of the world at large. There is symbolism of a stand-off of
power that is more defensive than aggressive on the part of US
government. We might be seeing bold actions at the international level.
The positive side is the potential for Americans to become more involved
and aware of what could be run away government. There is likely to be a
strong streak of American unity at the grass roots level. Jupiter in
Sagittarius is inclusive and universally philosophical. Global
citizenship is fast becoming a recognized concept of belonging over the
limits of national or local boundaries. Americans will make their voices
heard.
This December
2006 will encourage generosity, connectivity, and brotherhood. It is
always good to recognize how we individually can make a difference one
to one and hand in hand. Blessings to all for a loving holiday season.
