February 2007
By Norma Jean Ream
The 2007 New Year opened with a certain optimism that comes with
clearing up old business that took most of 2006 to complete. There may
be a tendency to relax and think that NOW things will get better. For
some folks, especially Sagittarians, that will be true. At least people
born in Sagittarius before December 10th, will be feeling the
glide of opening opportunities and right timing. The rest of the group
will get their rewards in the later half of the year. For all of us, we
should be looking to the longer trajectory of processes that conclude
this year and how that sets up the next two decades.
On the collective level, there is an expansion of the global community
through technology. We might not notice it so much in our highly
developed society, but there will be a major rise of technological
advancement in more primitive places where food and aid will be the
connective reward. Of course, we can expect the on-going development of
technology that continues to advance the information age.
Yet, we shouldn’t be too complacent about the governmental intention for
improving technology in America. By this time next year, we will see
what might be considered ‘coding’, where we all have some recognizable
or traceable coding; first, through our cell phones, later with more
advanced and personal devices. Over the next three years, it could all
seem very benign, if we are not looking at the path down the road.
There are radical changes ahead by 2011. This is to suggest that as free
citizens, we may want to think more deeply about the ‘conveniences’ we
are being offered. We should be more involved with the leadership we
elect and participate when voices of the people need to be heard. As
“The People” we ALL have to speak up. Presidential power has been
expanded beyond the control of the Judicial and Legislative branches.
The President doesn’t just speak to Americans, now he speaks to the
world.
The slowest planet in our solar system, Pluto, is preparing to change
signs in January 2008. It will be ushered out of Sagittarius by Jupiter,
who led Pluto’s way into Sagittarius in 1994. Capricorn is the sign of
ordered control, corporations and big business, and hard work. The
United States came into being through the difficult struggle to
overthrow oppressive government, the Monarchy of England, during the
years that Pluto was last leaving Sagittarius, associated with religion,
and moved into Capricorn, associated with structured order (1762-1778).
Consider the years of struggle our forefathers endured to gain
self-rule. This is an evolutionary point in terms of our national
identity. It is important to not let government of the people
turn into a corporate-run entity of mass control. Already, media is run
by only a handful of economic power figures and ‘the News’ is fabricated
towards entertainment rather than fully exposing the greater issues that
affect individual freedom. True literary journalists are becoming an
endangered species. Beware that ‘the News’ doesn’t become a spotlight on
celebrity with little or no information about government activities (the
‘boring’ news). Viewers should practice critical thinking while watching
CNN.
You see, Pluto was discovered in 1930, in the Sign of Cancer, relating
to home, family, and nationalism. With that, we saw the rise of Hitler
and power over the masses. It was also the time of economic disaster in
America. Yes, there is concern for the coming year, but greater still is
the concern for the coming decade plus. Pluto will spend 16 years in the
sign Capricorn. In 2011, Uranus, the planet associated with revolution,
independence and technology, will move into a challenging position to
Pluto. This will be the first dramatic aspect they have made since their
conjunction in 1964-65, which was the last big revolution in this
country. Uranus will be in Aries, the sign of the individual. “I AM” are
its keywords. I can only guess that this will be a dramatic period for
our nation regarding personal freedom and individuality versus mass
control, or even Marshall Law. I am stating this projection in very mild
terms for what I feel is going to be a time of tragic struggle.
The big focus for this coming year will be on the next Presidential
election. We should all pay much more attention to the candidates, their
alliances, and their rhetoric. The last two elections should have
awakened us to the power of government to manipulate the process. Every
community should look to the ways that citizens can safeguard the
sanctity of the election process and demand honesty. Every citizen of
voting age should begin to educate themselves and participate in the
process. Let us not let Democracy become a lost way of life due to
apathy. It’s the little erosions that we tend to accept easily.
The research I’ve done on the USA chart shows that the times of greatest
change come with Pluto’s movements. Pluto crossed the USA Ascendant
(rising) with the World Trade Center disaster. Pluto was crossing the
Midheaven (top of the wheel), the point of world standing and
government, in 1973-75 at the time of the oil embargo, the Watergate
Crisis, and Nixon’s resignation. The Middle East and USA relationships
have become a high focus since this time. With Pluto having spent most
of 2006 in opposition to the USA Mars (planet of war), we can expect
that the government’s focus will be to draw on US resources insistently
to continue domination. Mars also rules men and machines, thus a plan to
escalate war.
To bring the focus back to the immediate, the mid-January New Moon
occurred at the degree of the USA Pluto in the money place of the chart,
suggesting economic drama that will be a prelude to the long-range
changes that I am suggesting above. The February New Moon on the 17th
is conjunct the USA Moon, representing the POWER OF THE PEOPLE. The time
to be vocal, making your representatives represent YOU is now…February
thru May. Systematically, we can allow our power to erode, or we can
build our muscle to protect our government and our democracy. |
