The Chinese New Year is the first New Moon of the calendar year. This
year is the year of the Monkey. Monkey traits are wit, zeal, cunning,
improvisation, stability and leadership. It is interesting that our
President gave the annual State of the Union Address on the evening
before the New Moon. Essentially, this dark waning lunar phase, called
Balsamic is where the culminating energy of the old cycle is distilled
and transformed. There is a certain level of unseen activity that will
influence the transition into the New Year’s cycle. Look for new
information to surface that has been help back or covered up.
Revelations will give a more objective understanding of past events and
support better choices in the future. Like the monkey, life will call on
us to be alert, clever and cunning. It will draw on our leadership and
our improvisational skills to create stability where things seem
uncertain.
February will be a transitional month, taking us from difficult issues
to slightly better times. Relationships will not be as stressful as they
have been. Financial matters will still be slow to develop, but
improving steadily. This is a good period to take an overview of
circumstances and make a plan for stimulating spring business
activities. There is little energy to progress new deals until the
fertile New Moon in Pisces on February 19. This period can be full of
surprises that stimulate and excite group energies. The end of the month
is very good for social events and gatherings that bring together people
of vision.
As March begins we will likely be stretched thin on our resources and be
grasping for some kind of relief. On March 8, Saturn, planet of order,
structure, responsibility and governance, will turn direct in motion,
freeing up a good deal of energy for developing more solid foundations
for new ideas that build community. Its forward motion will also unlock
many secrets. This is important on the level of government and world
events. Saturn will reach the point where it turned retrograde June 11
and make exact contact to the Sun of the United States horoscope, as
well as our President’s birth Sun. This is the time to watch for
important changes. What has been hidden will be revealed.
On a more common level, Saturn rules Real Estate, structures,
responsibility and accountability. As it continues this year through the
sign of Cancer, representing home, family, and community, we become
aware of where improvements are needed and where we might bring a more
supportive order to our local social structure. Saturn brings
consolidation and solidifies form and structure. Used in dominance, it
enforces restrictions and limits freedom. This spring we can use this
energy to stimulate group sharing and creative community projects that
have long term benefit. Until the energies open up to growth again in
the spring, we might be careful with spending and generous in sharing
with our extended family.
