January, 2005
By Norma Jean Ream
Greetings and Aloha to 2005!
The New Year begins with a mixture of
emotions. Facing another year of war dampens our spirits and leaves many
families, both American and Iraqi, with loses and grief. Our
interpersonal relationships are as highlighted in importance for 2005 as
our international relationships. Taking personal assessment of what we
offer others who we interact with will help to bring responsibility of
our relationships back to our own center. One important theme operating
as we open the year is cooperation versus competition. Underlying this
issue is the dynamic of lack versus plenty. Giving and receiving in
balance builds mutual satisfaction, something each person can do daily
to help “change the world”.
The most important event of January is
the Inauguration of the President on the 20th. This event
sets the stage for the next four years of the Presidency. The chart of
this event brings attention to the national economy and the value of the
dollar in the international market. There is potential for some major
realignment of corporate affairs. BIG money intertwined with political
power will feature in dominating power internationally. With the
Inauguration chart overlaid with the USA chart, we find a focus on the
military and the labor forces. The working forces of our country will
have both the most to gain and the most to loose during this
administration. This administration’s allegiance to corporate support
could be the root of many problems for common people.
Overall, the year ahead looks a bit
challenging. We can put attention on planning to minimize the economic
hard times. The hardest time of 2005 will be the end of summer into
winter. The greatest difficulties will be financial. The first half of
the year will give the opportunity to gather in our resources.
Eliminating debt and stabilizing expenses can help make next winter less
stressful. Expansive moves will be slow to develop between February and
June, but diligence helps.
The Spring Equinox (March 21) chart
holds potential for agreements and the beneficial start of new plans and
programs. Most of the planets are connecting in ways that form
compatible alliances. Symbolically, people will be ready to work
together for improvements. There is strong attention on home and
community security. Mercury turns retrograde at the Equinox, turning
attention to projects that need revision to become fully active. This
period is from March 20 to April 12. Review, reorganize, renegotiate and
renew are key themes.
An eclipse on April 8 conjuncts Venus
and includes Mercury in Aries, the sign of new beginnings, assertive
action, and sharp changes. This blending could point to a shift in the
financial market relating to the value of the dollar. The ruler of
Aries, Mars will be in Aquarius, applying to Neptune, which deceives,
devalues, and dissolves. Things could be very difficult for people who
are financially over extended.
In mid-summer we look forward to Saturn
changing signs. It spends 21/2 years in a sign, influencing the themes
of government and conservative thinking through the sign it inhabits. It
has been in Cancer since June of 2003. Cancer, ruled by the Moon, is a
sign focused on nationalism, security, and home. Our President has
Saturn in Cancer, himself. His action to defend the homeland was to
create the Homeland Security Council. Much fear-based propaganda
has been imposed on the country to buy compliance. Saturn’s change of
sign will stimulate a change of approach for President Bush. His own
rising sign is Leo. As Saturn changes signs in July, the emphasis will
shift to leadership.
Saturn is the planet of responsibility
and hard work. It demands sacrifice and discipline, giving back only
limited reward. Its change of sign stimulates a change of expectation by
everyone. Moving into Leo will bring out pride instead of fear and need
for protection. In the fall, Saturn will cross the President’s
Ascendant, Mercury, and Pluto. This will be a very important time for
him and the country. Mr. Bush will be feeling a lot of pressure,
including potential health difficulties.
Another factor that makes the fall
period look difficult is the planet Mars turning retrograde in Taurus,
the sign of values, money, and resources. Mars will enter Taurus in late
July and spend 7 months there, completing in February 2006. The primary
energy of Mars is to separate, cut, or burn. Mars is not potentially
very good energy in this sign, as it rules Scorpio, the opposite sign.
This allows Mars to operate in a more radical, out of control manner.
Economic issues will be a struggle for most of us by the end of 2005,
unless we pay close attention to these factors throughout the year.
Planning, saving and minimizing expenses could make this period less of
a pinch.
The word sustainability will be on our
lips again by the beginning of 2006. Crisis drives creativity.
Unfortunately, we often have to be in the hard spot before we take into
account our vulnerabilities and do something about them. We can start
2005 by looking ahead with an eye to the weaknesses that could but us in
crisis. The ideas that need nurturing for this year really come down to
how we get along with each other. We can begin to balance the giving and
receiving in our lives. No man is an island. 2005 is going to teach us
lessons about how the simple and the greater interactions of our lives
influence us all. Plant food, share with your neighbors, and have a
giving attitude. Love is all there is. Let’s start now.
I hope your experience of 2005 brings
you closer to creating your own reality in a clear and powerful way.
Happy New Year.
