The top news stories that came out in
early June included the revelation of the identity of “Deep Throat”, the
political insider that leaked information to the media that brought down
the Nixon administration. Another big story involved the Downing Street
memo that proves the current administration’s intent to invade Iraq long
before 9/11. The astrological energies of June were such that previously
concealed information is being revealed. More stories can still come to
light throughout the summer.
The new moon on July 6 is in Cancer and
joined with fixed star Sirius, the Dog Star. This is a highly
intensified lunation, supporting dramatic events. It happens that this
is President Bush’s birthday. His birthday chart emphasizes his
influence in the world, while accentuating his responsibility for events
that he has set into motion. There is a great deal of stress in this
chart, suggesting that there will be many public dramas in which he will
be defending his own honor and decisions. He will be trying to express
his human side and his compassion under situations of attack against his
policymaking.
The planet Saturn, whose cycle of 30
years, is directly related to cycle points of government and social
development. Saturn is mostly responsible for the current highlighting
of historical events that hold a familiar flavor and can be compared to
current events. What do the presidential administrations of Truman,
Nixon, and Bush have in common? Hiroshima, North Vietnam, and Iraq:
power and world domination through assault labeled “security”. The peak
of these events occurred during the years that Saturn traveled through
Gemini and Cancer. Further dramatic events occurred with its move into
Leo. On July 17, Saturn will move into Leo, the sign of aristocracy,
drama, and egotism. It will take 2 1/2 years to travel this sign. We can
expect a shift from focus on home and security to entertainment and
grandiose displays of generosity and creativity. Saturn will move across
President Bush’s Ascendant on September 13. This is potentially a time
for him to have to face responsibility for things his actions have set
into motion. You can also expect a strong display of self-defense. There
will be three contacts with repeats happening in January and June. It
may be tough times for Bush, but what we have to worry about are the
decisions he makes and the actions he takes through this next year. His
power drives are strong and he could be an escalating force to be
reckoned with.
This passage of Saturn in the USA chart
is in the territory associated with death, taxes and debts owed by
others. The change of signs is most likely going to increase taxes, put
a new spin on the increasing death toll caused by the war, and
strong-arm indebted countries into supporting further war. There is one
last pass of Pluto, planet of power, death, and transformation, in
contact with the USA Mars, that is very likely to bring another
covered-up display of brutality to the surface. We are entering the
hottest days of summer, bringing violence and extreme displays of power.
On the home front, wherever that happens to be, we should try to hold
our attention on what is truly important, loving life. The dark forces
can so easily confuse us with words of glorified war. When Saturn
changes signs, it leaves the Moon’s rulership for the Sun’s rulership:
from security to glory. Let us try to hear the truth with our hearts.
