September, 2005
By Norma Jean Ream
Where did I put my
3-D glasses? In trying to integrate the contrast between what seems
obvious to the world against what our government tells us is true, I
feel like I need a special aid to help decide how to adjust to times
ahead. Fortunately, astrological movements can inform us of transitional
times. The month of September is an important gateway time of shifts in
the general economy. We should all be a bit cautious in making important
financial decisions over the next several months. It appears that the
inflationary and growthful economic period at the very least is going to
deflate over the next few months, which depending on international
relationships could continue into the third quarter of 2006.
The New and Full Moons this month are
in Virgo and Pisces, signs that represent changing energies that call
our attention to security and our future visions. This month is a good
time to be sorting out future goals and laying plans toward security. It
is the weak points that become apparent to us this month.
In addition, there are planetary
patterns that repeatedly state the theme of a struggle toward
agreement or compromise where none seems possible. The war in Iraq
tops the list of such current issues on the large scale. It has become
too painfully obvious that the world is suffering this war unjustly. The
lunations this month will emphasize our government’s efforts of
“perception management” to continue to sell us this war.
One very positive feature of early
September is the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, which will make
beautiful viewing in the early evenings even as they separate. They are
traveling through Libra, the sign of justice, equality, and cooperation.
Together, they emphasize peace and harmony. Jupiter’s inspirational
energy joined with the planet of love and values provide a platform for
delivering a message of harmony that feels universal. Their meeting
starts a cycle of expansion focused on our desires and pleasures. The
New Moon chart highlights Venus and Jupiter, supporting the influences
of women and a striving for peace and justice.
Yet, as they meet, they also interact
with Mars, who offers interference and discordance. Mars represents war
and aggression, forceful will, and ego-based intention. It is traveling
through Taurus; a Venus ruled sign that represents finances, banking,
and security. Mars is unstable energy. It turns retrograde (backward) on
October 3, which will have it retracing its steps and reverberating
contacts that it made through August. This is the point when the economy
starts its downward spiral.
The New Moon in Virgo stimulates the
focus of developing skills and refining our knowledge; perfect for back
to school time. Uranus, the planet associated with technology,
revolution, and enlightened advancements opposes the New Moon. This
offers awareness through the unexpected. Corporate power, oil prices,
international relations regarding debts owed, and power alliances are
the range of subjects in focus this month. On the individual level,
prepare for harder times this winter. How the global powers act in the
next two months will set the stage for 2006 and beyond.
September 6, the Senate will hold
confirmation hearings for John Roberts, President Bush’s appointee to
the Supreme Court. Under the current planetary influences, Robert’s is
likely to encounter some stiff questioning, but ultimate approval. He
may find liberation to follow his own values in the Supreme Court
Judgeship. Although he has close ties with the Bush family, Roberts
shows hope of being honest, fair, and an independent thinker. His
horoscope shows sensitivity and compassion that drive a man who wants to
improve the quality of life for others. His high intelligence has a
probing quality that searches deeply for the impartial truth. We can
only hope that his values are inclusive in honoring the values of other
people. His appointment will be influential for a long time.
The Full Moon on the 17th
holds the full influence of the agitating energy that builds from the
New Moon. The high focus in the media is on military events.
Perception management will be highlighting anything that looks like
success. In truth, US aggressions will be intensifying, perhaps even
spreading in territory.
The Autumnal Equinox is September 22
and as a seasonal indicator, there are challenges to the continuation of
the USA’s general status quo as world dominator. One example of this is
the growing impact of one mother, Cindy Sheehan, who is standing up to
the US government and asking, “Why does this war continue?” Like-minded
citizens are joining her in a 3-day Peace Festival organized by
United for Peace and Justice, on September 24-26 in Washington, DC.
The numbers of supporters will illustrate the collective need to
transform our nation’s actions toward the rest of the world. War does
not give us security.
In general, September is the time to
prepare for a hard winter, and perhaps a hard few years to come. This is
a turning point in economics, politics, and general social welfare. Be
alert and do what you can to solidify your position now.
