June 2004

By Norma Jean Ream

June 2004 is going to be another historically memorable time. There is a great intensity of stressful energies that we are all feeling in personal ways, while the world level of these energies play out in themes we have seen before. Will we recognize the repeat of history in modern trappings? Dramatic events can be expected this month. Topic areas include the Presidency, women in the military, challenge of American corporate power, and the changing perspective on values that is changing relationships.

The Full Moon on June 2 represents issues coming to their fullness or ripeness. Themes that are hot topics are at a place of exposure and expansion. There is a polarity influence that causes the duality of what we see or what we believe. It is not an easy time to make decisions, yet a lot of crazy information is flying around. This makes it hard to know what to include and what to redefine or delete.

There are two things happening in close succession: Venus will pass through the “heart” of the Sun on June 8, and Saturn will conjunct the Sun of the USA horoscope on June 11. Venus is the planet associated with love and values, and its influence is to harmonize and unify. We also specifically associate values and women with Venus. Morals and self worth are significant to a discussion about Venus. During the month of June, Venus is in the retrograde phase of its cycle. This is a time to re-evaluate. Love relationships are tested during the 6 weeks of Venus retrograde (May 17 to June 30). With Venus in the sign of Gemini, representing communications and negotiations, some relationships will suffer over words and misunderstandings. This is NOT a time to make life changing decisions about relationships. When planets are retrograde they are in their slowest motion, so don’t be making quick decisions on bad information or reactive inclusion of unimportant data. (E.g., What you thought was meant.)

The second really important factor this month is the planet of responsibility, order, and accountability, (Saturn), is making its 30 year cyclic pass over the Sun in the United States horoscope. The Sun represents the President, the primary leader, who in ancient times was the King. Saturn brings things into solid form and is decisive, discriminating, and grave in the judgment that comes up in its passing. Saturn defines through exclusion. In 1974, the Watergate scandal was the political focus of our country.  President Nixon resigned as Saturn passed over the U.S. Sun. We do not see the President resign every time this cycle occurs, but it is a proper check of the integrity and productivity of the country’s leadership. It is not difficult to reflect on the 28 to 30 year periods of past history to see that war is generally a factor. What makes 2004 more interesting is that our President shares the same degree for his own Sun, as he is born July 6. Anyone watching the news these days is aware of the unraveling of Mr. Bush’s foundations for his Iraq war. This may be his “Watergate.”

There are many other astrological factors active both collectively and in the world picture, but space here is limited. Let me just say that there will be political issues over women in multiple ways. This could be another important turning point in the emerging influence of women in government and in changing social status. We should not expect this to be a laid-back summer. The changes in June bring unstable times of transition.
